Facebook & Twitter
I've, once again, decided against Facebook. You will not find me there.
However, I'm giving twitter a try - I like the short messages. And, I think it's a quick and easy way to keep up-to-date on a person's activities (hopefully they won't tell you everything about what they're doing.
My new twitter name is @steve_shaff. Any Gold Canyon Caretaking tweets will be from @stevecaretaker.
Hope this works!

We're Both Ill
Donna's had a cold/virus for the past several days. Even went to the Doctor, which is rare for her (women never get sick; women can handle pain better; women don't whine. I'm just paraphrasing here. I am convinced they are the stronger sex). Anyway, the Dr said it's probably a virus - she should get better soon. But she has given it to me - in the form of a head cold and coughing. We're a fun couple right now. Our extended trip, to see family and friends, begins on Monday. Hope we feel better soon.
Nothing extraordinary to report on the caretaker front. We've had wind the past two days, but nothing very strong. Gusts were forecasted to be about 35mph. It's supposed to get down to 44 degrees tonight. Everyone seems to have new weeds - they were sprayed again this week.
This upcoming trip will give us an idea just how fast the buckets of water evaporate in some of your homes.

Donna's Last Day; Caretaking
Today was Donna's last day of the season - her last as Assistant. Her next day at work was scheduled for September 13, but that was changed today. Her new start date is September 27 - she'll have to hit the ground running a little faster! She is excited.
Next week is a caretaking week; we plan to perform that function every two weeks. A little glitch this next week - water will be shut off on Monday for repairs. There is no word on how long that might take, so we plan to do Monday's work on Sunday. We now have a hitch for the golf cart and can attach the supply wagon - no need to pull it around the park. Yeah!
The trip to MO/AR is a go; might even loop through IA & WI. Will let you know about the trip later.
Cool here today, but will warm up soon. Glad we're not in the midwest now - too many storms for us.

Pollen!!!!!!!!!
My allergies are much worse this Spring - must be a lot of stuff floating around. We have so many flowers blooming now - the pollen count must be off the charts. I've had several people recommend I start eating local honey, so I fill up a teaspoon every couple of hours. Still no relief (it must take quit a while to build up an immunity).

Season End
The end of the current season is in sight. The Park is becoming a little less populated - in a few weeks it'll be a ghost town.
We've begun the caretaking job and have found that cleaning up around Cholla's is pretty exciting. Donna had to use barbecue tongs to pick those nasty things up! Beginning next week, we'll be spending about four days a week, every other week, keeping up with the requirements of this job. We think this will be a great summer.
We'll keep you up-to-date on this latest adventure.

Another Dry Spell
I know, it's been a while.
I find myself looking at Facebook. I know that's bad, but it's so easy.
Park Model sales are a little busy now. Not so much in the sales side, but many residents are wanting to sell. And, that brings the prices down. It's a little depressing when owners accept these very low prices.
Anyway, that's keeping me very busy most days. In fact, today I missed BOTH breakfast and lunch. Not good, but I am having fun at this job. The next few weeks will be the busiest of the year; or so they say. Lot's of lookers, especially from Canada. I do like Canadians, even though they won THE hockey game! Donna and I are honorary Canadians (we went to PEI), and I even won the Curling Trophy at the Canada Party. BTW, wasn't that a great Olympics?!
Donna has accepted the Activity Director's position for next year. So, that makes me the "administrator to the activity director in charge of computer problems (aadccp)". I've got the whole Summer to train her in the ways of computerdom. I now have FOUR jobs: Home Sales, Caretaker, Computer Repair, AADCCP. Whew!!
This is an exciting time at Gold Canyon Golf and RV Resort.

Resigning
I may have to spend more Fridays with Park Sales, so we're looking for someone to take over the moderator function at the Technology Discussions. All that person has to do is show up; initiate a discussion; try to get others to participate. Piece of cake!
See Donna when you've decided to help out.
Hello
We know it's been a long time with a new post, but .... we've been busy. The Activities Season is in full swing, so Donna is involved in a variety of projects. It looks like February will be non-stop! Steve is working almost fulltime in the Sales Office. He's handling new and used sales. As in the housing market, the market of Park Models is also a little depressed. Buyers are getting some good deals.
I think I've previously stated we will spend the summer in the Valley. Just to see how hot it really is (not really, we're staying to be caretakers for some of the park models and Steve will spend some time in Home Sales). In addition to the caretaker responsibilities, Donna will do crafty things, like - making Roman shades for the living room; and trivets. We also plan to take several mini camping trips. We've had to revise that activity somewhat, in that most all the State Parks in Arizona are shutting down because of the economy. Not sure that makes sense.

Discussion Group Resumes
Let's start the computer discussion group again. Since I'm now in Sales, we'll have to move it to Fridays at 2pm in the Ocotillo Room. Just because Rose says that's a good time.
This will be a general discussion on Computer things. Problems, successes, new toys, software, etc. I'll try to pick some topics, but I want you guys to participate in any topic, you might find interesting.
